Peoria, AZ Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 21-505(D)(2) of the Peoria City Code governs where and how a Mobile Food/Merchandise Unit, commonly a food truck or trailer, can set up. Before parking anywhere, the vendor must obtain written permission from the property owner or an authorized agent; a verbal arrangement is not enough. The unit cannot locate within 250 feet of a single-family residentially zoned lot, not counting common area tracts, and it cannot park in a way that drops the site below its required minimum parking count. Every unit must sit on a dustproof surface and stay clear of drive aisles, fire lanes, loading zones, and pedestrian or vehicle circulation routes, since the ordinance treats any of those placements as a hazard to public health, safety and welfare.

Once the vending stops, the site has to be restored to its prior condition; permanent alterations to accommodate the truck are prohibited. On the operating side, a unit cannot stay at one site or center for more than eight consecutive hours within a 24-hour period, a window that includes setup and takedown time, not just active service. , though an exception lets a unit serve as an auxiliary kitchen for an existing bar, tavern, or restaurant during that business's own operating hours. Mobile restrooms are barred outright, and any temporary lighting on-site must point downward and be shielded so the light source is not visible from neighboring property.
