Waynesville, MO Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Section 740.040 of the Waynesville Municipal Code ties mobile food vending to the City's own zoning map: a vendor can operate only in the zoning districts where mobile food vending is specifically listed as a permitted use in the Waynesville City Code, and even then only after getting written permission from whoever owns the private property the vendor parks on. The same section then closes off public land: vendors cannot stand in the public right-of-way, or on the grounds of any government office, facility, public park, recreation area or other public land the City controls, operates or manages, unless another part of Chapter 740 says otherwise.

Vacant, unimproved or overgrown lots are off-limits outright, regardless of zoning. A time-of-day rule applies City-wide on top of the location rules: no mobile food vendor may operate between 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. Where a vendor does want to use City-owned property, such as a municipal parking lot, Section 740.060 offers a separate path: a one-day parking permit for $25, a seven-day permit for $150, or a thirty-day permit for $500, plus $10 more if the site has an electrical hookup, with special-event vending instead covered by the event organizer's Chapter 120 permit. Signage on the vehicle also has to conform to Sections 510.050 and 510.080, the City's general sign rules.
