270 of the Town's business license chapter requires any resident who wants to hold a garage or yard sale to register the date and time with the Finance Department before the sale takes place; the Code sets no separate fee beyond that registration step. For a single-family residence, garage-yard sales are capped at three per calendar year, and no individual sale may run longer than three consecutive days. Multi-family properties are treated differently: the limit there is one sale per calendar year per occupied unit, and only the actual tenant of that unit, not the property owner or manager, may apply for the sale registration.

Before a tenant can register, the property owner must give written permission, which the tenant has to submit to the Finance Department along with the registration. The Code also bans off-site advertising for the sale: subsection (d) prohibits any sign advertising a garage-yard sale on a public street, alley, right-of-way, or other publicly owned property, so hosts are limited to on-site signage and notices that don't spill onto Town property. The section has been in place since Ordinance No. 210 in 1999 and was last amended by Ordinance No. 270 in 2003.
