Pageland, SC Garage & Yard Sales: Frequency, Duration & Permits (2026)

Pageland regulates 'garage, lawn, yard, attic, porch, room, backyard, patio, flea market, or rummage' sales under Article II of Chapter 10, adopted because the town council found that unregulated sales were annoying residents and congesting streets (Section 10-24). Section 10-26 requires a permit from the town clerk before any sale, and Section 10-27 requires a written statement filed at least 24 hours ahead, or postmarked seven days ahead if mailed, naming the applicant, the sale location, the sale dates, any other sales already held that calendar year, and an affirmation that the goods are the applicant's own property, not resale merchandise.

Section 10-28 charges an administrative processing fee for each permit. Section 10-29 then caps the count: no more than four permits per residence or family household per calendar year, and when several households join for one sale, the permit counts against each of them. Section 10-30 caps duration: sales run no more than the daylight hours of two consecutive days, and never on Sunday. Section 10-31 gives a weather exception, letting the clerk reissue a rained-out permit for a sale at the same location within 30 days at no extra fee, and allows a fifth sale in a year if the owner shows a bona fide change in property ownership.

Section 10-39 lets the town clerk revoke or refuse a permit for false statements, and bars anyone convicted of a violation from getting another garage sale permit for two years.
