Pageland, SC Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Section 36-189 of the Pageland Town Code prohibits parking, storing or leaving any abandoned or derelict vehicle, or any vehicle in a rusted, wrecked, junked, partially dismantled or inoperative condition, on a public street for more than 48 hours or on private property for more than seven days. A narrow exception allows one derelict vehicle on an occupied one- or two-family lot if it sits in the rear yard, is housed or covered with a proper vehicle cover, and the area within ten feet of it is kept free of unsafe, unsanitary or unsightly conditions.

No derelict vehicle may be stored on a vacant lot, in a manufactured home park, or in a multifamily district. Under Section 36-190, the police chief or code enforcement officer tags a violating vehicle, and if it is not removed within the same 48-hour (street) or seven-day (private property) window, it becomes town property and is disposed of by sale after notice to the owner and any lienholder, with proceeds going to the general fund. The code enforcement officer or police chief may enter private property to enforce the article under Section 36-192, and interfering with that entry, or tampering with a warning tag, is itself unlawful. 00 plus removal, storage and disposal costs, or up to 30 days imprisonment, or both, with each day of violation a separate offense.
