Sedona does not have a standalone garage-sale ordinance; the day limits live inside the business licensing chapter's definition of a "casual activity or sale," the category exempted from having to get a city business license under SCC 5.05.025(H). Section 5.05.010 spells out the cap directly: an individual or group yard sale at any one location cannot run more than three consecutive days at a time, and the combined total across the year cannot exceed eight days. A second exempted category in the same definition covers sales run by children or minors under 18.

The practical effect is that Sedona residents can hold, for example, a three-day sale in spring and up to five more scattered days later in the year without any city paperwork, but a homeowner running near-continuous weekend sales that add up to more than eight days, or a single sale stretching past three consecutive days, crosses into "business" territory as SCC 5.05.010 defines it. At that point the seller must procure a current business license from the city before continuing, per SCC 5.05.020(A), and must comply with the Sedona City Code, the Sedona Land Development Code, and Arizona Revised Statutes governing that business, including any applicable zoning restrictions on the use.

The license requirement is enforced by the city's business licensing office, and SCC 5.05.020(D) requires the license be displayed where the public can see it during operation.
