Pomona, CA Home Business: Customer Traffic Restrictions (2026)

Pomona's Zoning and Development Code sets two tiers of customer-traffic limits depending on which home business category applies. For a Home Occupation under Sec. d, no non-resident employee is allowed on-site at any time, no more than 1 customer or client may be on-site at any given time, and customers or clients may only visit between 7AM and 7PM. Both categories also restrict deliveries: a Home Occupation bars the use of any commercial vehicle for delivery or shipment of materials or equipment altogether under Sec. e, while a Home-Based Business under Sec. e allows deliveries but bars them between 6PM and 8AM, caps the count at 1 business-related delivery per day, and requires delivery vehicles to comply with local residential parking, stopping, noise, and size restrictions. Which tier applies depends on the scale of activity: a resident running simple office work stays a Home Occupation, while a business drawing walk-in customers for retail or personal-service work, such as hair styling or tailoring, falls under the higher-traffic Home-Based Business standard instead.
