SDMC Section 141.0308 limits home occupations to one customer on the premises at a time, by appointment only, between 7 AM and 7 PM. No deliveries by commercial vehicles larger than one-ton capacity. Business must not generate traffic noticeable above normal residential levels.
Under SDMC 141.0308, home occupations may have a maximum of one customer on the premises at a time, by appointment only, between 7 AM and 7 PM. No walk-in customers or group appointments are permitted. The business must not generate traffic patterns, including customer visits, deliveries, and employee arrivals, that are inconsistent with the residential character of the neighborhood. Deliveries must use vehicles not exceeding one-ton carrying capacity. Large commercial delivery vehicles (box trucks, semi-trailers) are not permitted for regular business deliveries. The one-customer-at-a-time limit is strictly enforced to prevent the home from functioning as a retail establishment or office with regular foot traffic. Ride-share or taxi pickups and drop-offs are not counted as customer traffic.
Code enforcement citation for exceeding customer limits or generating excessive traffic. Repeated violations may result in loss of home occupation privileges.
