Under the Aurora Unified Development Ordinance, Home Adult or Child Day Care is listed as a permitted accessory use table entry (coded "A") in most residential zone districts citywide. In-home day care may serve children from birth to 16 years of age, but every facility must operate under the licensing rules of the Colorado Department of Human Services, as amended from time to time: the UDO defers entirely to the state licensing scheme rather than setting its own capacity or staffing limits. This is separate from the larger, non-residential "Adult or Child Care Center" use category defined elsewhere in the UDO, which applies to standalone day care centers not located in an operator's own dwelling.
