Sec. " Unlike many of the other prohibited categories in Sec. 040, subsection K carries no exception for a creative sign, no size threshold and no zoning carve-out, so a home-based business in Glendale cannot post any exterior identification sign, no matter how small, advertising the occupation from the residence. 080(B) directs that signage for residential uses in nonresidential zones follows the same restrictive treatment set out for residential zones generally. Because Sec. 040 is named directly in the general penalty chapter at Sec. 010(D), violating the home-occupation sign ban is an infraction, not merely a code-enforcement warning.

The fine schedule in Sec. 010(B) applies: up to $100 for a first offense, $200 for a second within a year, and $500 for each further violation in that same year, with repeat offenders (three or more violations in a year) exposed to misdemeanor prosecution under Sec. 010(A), carrying up to a $1,000 fine and six months in jail. The city attorney can also pursue abatement or a civil penalty of up to $1,000 per violation under Sec. 050 in addition to any criminal citation.
