04(D) of the Marietta Code of Ordinances lays out the specific criteria for Type A home occupations, the category covering resident consultants, artists, writers and similar workers who use their home as an office or mailing address without client visits. 3 states plainly that no signage regarding the home occupation is permitted on the property, with no carve-out for a small nameplate, window sticker or temporary sign. 4 extends that restriction beyond physical signage on-site to advertising generally, prohibiting any advertisement in any media, including flyers soliciting business, that contains the property's address.

Together the two provisions mean a Type A home business cannot identify itself visually at the residence and cannot direct potential customers to that address through print or other advertising. 04(C)(2), which also bars alterations like commercial-style exterior lighting or parking lots that would make the dwelling look less residential. 04(C)(2) still applies. Compliance is checked through the Department of Development Services' periodic inspections tied to the annual business license recertification required for every home occupation.
