Under Chapter 233, a home occupation or home professional office is an accessory use allowed in residential districts. No more than one home professional office is permitted per dwelling unit, and no more than 10% of the dwelling unit and accessory structures, or 500 square feet, whichever is less, may be devoted to it. The use must be conducted entirely indoors with no outdoor storage, produce no noise, glare, fumes, odors, or electrical interference, and leave the home's residential appearance unaltered. Vehicle repair is specifically prohibited.
Operating a home business that exceeds these limits or changes the property's residential character violates Chapter 233; the Zoning Officer may issue a notice of violation and municipal-court penalties until the use is brought into compliance.
