Section 8.1.1 of Westland's zoning ordinance sets the baseline for any home-based business: floor area used for the occupation can't exceed 25 percent of the dwelling's gross floor area, and no accessory building may be used for it. There can be no visible evidence of the occupation from outside the home, no outdoor display, no outside storage of equipment or materials. Only goods actually produced on-site may be sold there.
