Vista requires established vegetation to be preserved whenever possible under the Landscape Manual. Trees overhanging sidewalks and streets must be maintained for clearance. Fire-wise pruning required in hazard zones.
Vista's Landscape Manual requires that established vegetation be preserved whenever possible. A mixture of deciduous and evergreen trees must be provided in required landscaping. Canopy shade trees are required at 25-35 foot spacing with a minimum 24-inch box size. Trees overhanging public sidewalks and streets must maintain adequate clearance for pedestrians and vehicles. In fire hazard zones, lower branches must be trimmed and aerial canopies spaced to prevent fire spread. Tree trimming in public right-of-way is managed by the city's maintenance division. Property owners are responsible for trimming trees that encroach from their property onto sidewalks or streets. Significant tree removal may require review through the Development Code.
Failure to maintain clearance: city trimming at owner expense. Public tree damage: fine and restoration.
