All consumer fireworks are illegal in the City of Vista and throughout San Diego County. This includes sparklers, firecrackers, cherry bombs, bottle rockets, poppers, and all items marketed as 'safe and sane.' Vista's inland North County location with surrounding brush areas creates significant wildfire risk. The city hosts an official Independence Day Celebration as a safe community alternative to private fireworks. Only professional fireworks displays with proper permits from the Vista Fire Department are allowed. The ban is enforced year-round with heightened patrols around July 4th and New Year's Eve. Neighbors near Camp Pendleton may hear military operations but these are not civilian fireworks.
Misdemeanor. Fines up to $1,000 and/or 6 months jail. Confiscation of fireworks. Restitution for fire damage.
