ALL consumer fireworks are illegal in Oceanside and throughout San Diego County, including sparklers and safe-and-sane varieties. Only professional permitted displays are allowed. The countywide ban reflects extreme wildfire risk.
All consumer fireworks are illegal in the City of Oceanside and throughout San Diego County. This includes sparklers, firecrackers, cherry bombs, bottle rockets, poppers, and all items marketed as safe and sane. San Diego County maintains a comprehensive ban covering all incorporated cities and unincorporated areas. Only professional fireworks displays with city and county permits are allowed. The ban is strictly enforced given San Diego's extreme wildfire risk, especially with Camp Pendleton's wildland-urban interface to the north. Oceanside Fire Department conducts enforcement operations particularly around July 4 and New Year's Eve. The prohibition applies in all fire hazard severity zones.
Misdemeanor. Fines up to $1,000 and/or 6 months jail. Restitution for any fire damage. Confiscation of all fireworks.
