Full Breakdown
Buckeye rewrote International Property Maintenance Code § 302.4 in its own Development Code adoption of that model code. Every exterior property area must stay free of overgrown or dry bushes, grass (including lawn grass) taller than six inches, and tumbleweeds or weeds over six inches, along with dead trees, dead branches, and dead palm fronds that could become a fire hazard or threaten neighbors' health, safety, or property values. If an owner ignores a notice of violation, the city or a hired contractor can enter the property, remove the vegetation, and bill the owner for the cost.
Violations & Fines
Ignoring a notice of violation for tall weeds or grass exposes the owner to prosecution under Property Maintenance Code § 106.3, and the city can remove the vegetation itself and bill the owner.
