Clayton County's Quality of Life Code requires unincorporated properties to be kept free of rubbish and uncut vegetation. Grass and weeds over ten inches are unlawful, and owners must remove trash, dead trees, and other prohibited items.
Chapter 62, Article II sets property-maintenance duties for the unincorporated county. Section 62-201(a) states the purpose: properties must be maintained in good repair, free from accumulation of rubbish and uncut vegetation. Section 62-202(b) fixes the ten-inch limit on grass and weeds and requires removal of dead trees, trash, rubbish, and garbage. Code Enforcement handles complaints. Municipal codes for Jonesboro, Forest Park, Riverdale, and Morrow govern weed and overgrowth inside those city limits.
A Notice of Violation gives five business days to comply; noncompliance yields a Magistrate Court citation and fine under section 1-12, and the county may abate the condition and place a lien on the property.
