Westerville enforces weed and nuisance vegetation standards on all developed properties. Noxious weeds including Canada thistle, Johnson grass, and poison ivy must be removed. Ohio Department of Agriculture maintains the statewide noxious weed list under ORC 927.70. After notice, owners have 7 days to comply. Uncut lots are mowed by city contractor with costs billed to owner.
Mowing charge: 150 to 500 dollars plus 75 dollar admin fee. Unpaid costs placed as assessment on property taxes. Chronic violators subject to misdemeanor citations.
