Coral Springs, FL Mobility & Curb Rules: Bike Lane Rules (2026)

Section 4½-8, part of Chapter 4½'s operation-restrictions article, spells out five duties for anyone riding a bicycle on a Coral Springs roadway or public path. A cyclist is granted the rights, and held to the duties, of a motor vehicle driver under state rules of the road and city traffic ordinances, except where a rule by its nature cannot apply to a bicycle. Riders must obey official traffic-control signals, signs, and devices unless a police officer directs otherwise, and must not disregard posted no-turn signs unless they dismount and proceed as a pedestrian.

Subsection (4) requires riding as near the right-hand side of the roadway as practicable, using due care when passing a standing or same-direction vehicle. Subsection (5) is the mandatory-path rule: wherever the city has provided a usable bicycle path adjacent to a roadway, riders must use that path and are barred from riding on the roadway itself. Related sections in the same chapter add more duties: Section 4½-11 bars riding at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent for conditions, and Section 4½-13 requires a cyclist emerging from a driveway or alley to yield to pedestrians on the sidewalk and to vehicles upon entering the roadway. Every bicycle ridden on a city street must also be registered with the police department within 30 days of purchase under Section 4½-3.
