Apopka, FL Noise Ordinances: Aircraft Noise (2026)

Aircraft noise in Apopka is controlled entirely by federal law. Under 49 USC 40103 (Sovereignty and Use of Airspace) and the Airline Deregulation Act, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has exclusive authority over aircraft in flight and airport operations that accept federal Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants. Apopka Airport (FAA identifier X04) is a publicly owned general aviation field at 2300 Stanley Drive with a single 4,000-foot paved runway (15/33), operated under FAA Part 139 exemption as a non-air-carrier field. The airport publishes a voluntary Fly Friendly noise abatement procedure on its website and AirNav page, asking pilots to avoid overflight of the residential neighborhoods south of the field below 1,500 feet AGL, to climb on runway heading to 800 feet before turning crosswind, and to avoid pattern work before 8 AM and after sunset. These are advisory only — the FAA prohibits mandatory curfews without a completed Airport Noise Compatibility Study under FAR Part 150. Apopka Municipal Code cannot prohibit flights, restrict engine run-ups, or set decibel limits on aircraft.
