Canyon County, ID Noise Ordinances: Amplified Music & Outdoor Sound (2026)

Section 04-01-11(3)(B) folds amplified sound into the same Disturbing the Peace clause that also covers poorly muffled vehicles and loud conduct: the code states that amplified sound is prohibited within the park at any time, except in designated areas or by authority of the park manager. under the definition in Section 04-01-03; amplified sound equipment, speakers or PA systems can be cited at a county park at noon just as easily as at midnight unless the park manager has designated a spot for it or authorized the specific use, such as for a permitted event under the special group permit process in Section 04-01-19.

The article's authority traces to Idaho Code sections 31-714, 31-828 and 63-908, and the current prohibited-acts list was last amended by Ordinance 16-020 in 2016. Park managers and Department of Parks, Cultural and Natural Resources staff the director deputizes as deputy sheriffs under Section 04-01-05(2) enforce the rule on county-owned park and waterway property in unincorporated Canyon County; it does not reach amplified sound at events on private property or inside Caldwell, Nampa or the county's other incorporated cities, which regulate amplified sound under their own codes.
