Amplified music rules in Kane County, IL — also called sound permit, PA system, or live music ordinances — set decibel limits, time-of-day restrictions, and when permits are required.
Unincorporated Kane County has no dedicated amplified-music ordinance. Loud speakers or PA systems are governed by the statewide noise-pollution rule (35 Ill. Adm. Code 900.102) and disorderly conduct law (720 ILCS 5/26-1). The Sheriff responds to disturbances.
Kane County does not publish a countywide amplified-sound permit or decibel rule for unincorporated land. Amplified music from speakers, bands, or PA systems is a property-line noise source: it must not emit sound beyond the property boundary that causes "noise pollution," and it is subject to the octave-band limits in 35 Ill. Adm. Code 901 (lower at night). Music that is loud and unreasonable and disturbs others can also be charged as disorderly conduct under 720 ILCS 5/26-1. For active late-night amplified-music complaints, the Kane County Sheriff (630-232-8400) is the enforcement contact. Incorporated cities within the county issue their own amplified-sound permits and set their own limits.
No amplified-music county fine. Disorderly conduct is a Class C misdemeanor (up to 30 days, up to $1,500). State noise-pollution violations are enforced by the Illinois EPA/Pollution Control Board.
