Barking dog rules in Omaha, NE β also called nuisance dog, dog noise, or excessive barking ordinances β define when a barking dog becomes a code violation and how complaints are handled.
Omaha prohibits dogs from barking uninterruptedly in a way that disturbs neighbors. Violations can result in the dog being impounded.
Under Omaha Municipal Code Β§6-107 (Noisy Dogs) and Chapter 17, it is illegal for your dog to bark uninterrupted in a manner that disturbs neighbors. Any animal that by loud, continued, or frequent barking, howling, or yelping annoys or disturbs the peace is prohibited under Β§6-6 (Noisy Animals). If your dog creates a nuisance, Animal Control has the authority to remove your dog from your property and require you to impound the dog subject to all fees and fines. The Nebraska Humane Society handles animal control for the City of Omaha.
Owners of persistently barking dogs may receive citations. Animal Control can remove the dog from the property if the nuisance continues. Impound fees and fines apply.
