Santa Clarita Construction Hours Rules (2026): What You Need to Know

Section 11.44.080 of the Santa Clarita Municipal Code limits construction noise within 300 feet of residentially zoned property. On weekdays (Monday through Friday), construction requiring a building permit is permitted from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. On Saturdays, construction is allowed from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. No construction work shall be performed on six designated public holidays: New Year's Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.

The restriction specifically applies to construction work requiring a building permit from the city on sites within 300 feet of a residentially zoned property. Emergency work, as defined in Section 11.44.020(D), is permitted at all times regardless of these restrictions. The Department of Community Development has authority to issue permits for after-hours construction work, provided that adequate containment of construction noises is incorporated into the plan.

The 300-foot measurement from residential zoning is measured from the nearest point of the construction site to the nearest residentially zoned property boundary.
