Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances Chapter 31 regulates noise citywide with decibel-based enforcement. Section 31-3 sets daytime limits of 70 dBA (8:01 AM to 11 PM Sunday through Thursday, 7:01 AM to midnight Friday and Saturday) and nighttime limits of 60 dBA during remaining hours. Sound levels are measured at the property where the sound is received using calibrated equipment meeting American National Standards Institute specifications. The Entertainment District has a separate 85 dBA threshold at all times for sound originating and received within the district. Section 31-2 enumerates specific noise nuisances including sound amplifiers, musical instruments, animal noise, vehicle horns, and engine exhaust. Fine up to $500 per offense. Each day of continued violation is a separate offense. TX Penal Code 42.01 also applies for unreasonable noise (Class C misdemeanor, up to $500).
