Larimer County, CO Noise Ordinances: Quiet Hours (2026)

Unincorporated Larimer County's noise framework is established by Ordinance No. 97-03, codified at Larimer County Code Chapter 30, Article V, Section 30-155. Adopted under CRS §25-12 (Colorado Noise Abatement Statute) and CRS §30-15 county home-rule authority, the ordinance applies only within the unincorporated territory and does not preempt municipal codes in Fort Collins, Loveland, or Estes Park. Long-term residential land uses are capped at 55 dB(A) daytime (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) and 50 dB(A) nighttime (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM), measured at or within the property line of the affected residence. Commercial zones permit 60/55 dB(A) and light industrial 70/65 dB(A). Section 30-155 grants a 10 dB(A) bonus during daytime hours for up to 15 minutes within any one-hour period, accommodating mowing and short construction bursts. Section 30-154 separately prohibits any noise that unreasonably interferes with the quiet enjoyment of an individual of ordinary sensitivity, regardless of measured decibel level. Enforcement is shared: the Larimer County Department of Health and Environment handles complaints during business hours (Monday–Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM) at 970-498-6775, and the Larimer County Sheriff at 970-416-1985 covers nights and weekends. Measurements are taken at least 25 feet from a right-of-way source. Violations are county petty offenses subject to summons and fines.
