Full Breakdown
City Code § 10-22.1 bars operating a sound amplifying device inside a motor vehicle so that it's plainly audible 50 feet or more away, whether the vehicle is parked, stopped, or moving on a street, alley, parking lot, or driveway: public or private property included. "Plainly audible" doesn't require discernible lyrics; a beat or bass vibration is enough. Government vehicles and parade-permit holders under § 22-34 are exempt. Separately, § 22-25 bans using an engine brake or retarder within the city, defining the noise it produces as a nuisance.
Violations & Fines
Misdemeanor under the Chapter 10 general penalty (§ 1-8): fine up to $2,000.00 for a health/sanitation-chapter violation; each incident can be cited separately.
