Bergenfield site plan rules forbid lighting that produces glare at lot lines and cap commercial light fixture height at 18 feet.
Under Bergenfield's Subdivision and Site Plan Review and Approval regulations, lighting of any building, property, or sign must not produce glare at the exterior lot lines of the premises. The height of any light source on a commercial, industrial, or public facility may not exceed 18 feet. Site plans must arrange traffic circulation and parking so that headlight glare onto adjacent properties is eliminated to the extent possible, and the Planning Board considers buffering, aesthetics, and the elimination of glare, dust, and noise when approving on-site parking layouts. These standards govern new and modified site plans reviewed by the Borough.
Installing pole lights taller than 18 feet on commercial sites, aiming fixtures so light or glare crosses lot lines, or designing parking that throws headlight glare onto neighbors.
