Augusta-Richmond County, GA Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Under Article 16 of the traffic chapter, Augusta-Richmond County prohibits parking or standing any inoperative, wrecked, dismantled, abandoned, discarded, scrapped, or unlicensed vehicle or trailer on residentially zoned or other zoned property (Sec. 3-5-134, 3-5-135, 3-5-136). Exceptions apply if the vehicle sits in an enclosed building, on a lawfully operating business's premises where necessary to that business, or on property used for vehicle repair or reconditioning consistent with zoning. When an owner cannot be found or refuses consent, the county is authorized to remove a junk or abandoned vehicle determined to be a health hazard or nuisance under O.C.G.A. Chapter 40-11, after posting notice at least three days before removal (Sec. 3-5-139).
