Sammamish treats long-term street vehicles under both its parking code and Washington's abandoned-vehicle law. The 72-hour limit in SMC 46.30.060 establishes when a parked vehicle becomes subject to abatement, and SMC 46.05.010 incorporates the state framework for impounding and removing unauthorized vehicles. Under RCW 46.55.085, an officer who finds a vehicle on a public right-of-way that appears abandoned attaches a notification sticker showing the date and time it was attached and the officer's identity, and makes a reasonable effort to telephone the registered owner if Washington plates are present. If the vehicle is not removed within 24 hours from the time the sticker is attached, it may be taken into custody and impounded. The City directs residents to report abandoned vehicles by calling King County Sheriff dispatch at (206) 296-3311 immediately when a vehicle is blocking the roadway, on private property, looks suspicious, appears vandalized or stolen, or was first reported abandoned more than twenty days earlier; otherwise residents use the My Sammamish online portal, which is the preferred channel for long-term parking and abandoned-vehicle complaints over 72 hours.
