Sammamish does not have a blanket overnight on-street parking ban. Vehicles may park overnight on residential streets subject only to the 72-hour limit (SMC 46.30.060), the unlicensed-vehicle rule, and posted restrictions. Overnight parking and mooring in city parks is restricted to designated areas with Director permission.
Unlike some cities, Sammamish does not prohibit overnight street parking by time of day. A passenger vehicle may legally remain on a public street overnight as long as it complies with SMC 46.30.060, which permits parking for up to 72 consecutive hours, and as long as the vehicle is currently licensed (SMC 46.30.050 bars unlicensed vehicles in the right-of-way). Overnight parkers must still avoid the prohibited locations adopted in SMC 46.30.070 (and RCW 46.61.570) and any signed no-parking or restricted zones. The principal overnight restrictions in Sammamish code apply to public parks rather than streets: SMC Title 7A bars parking or abandoning a vehicle in any city open space, trail, park or park facility after closing, except for persons using the facility for a Director-authorized event, and prohibits mooring, anchoring, docking or berthing a boat overnight in a city park area unless the location is designated for that use or the Parks Director grants written permission. Vehicles left overnight in a closed park may be towed at the owner's expense.
There is no overnight-specific street fine; overnight street violations arise only from the 72-hour rule, unlicensed-vehicle rule, or posted signs, all enforced as civil parking infractions. Vehicles parked in a closed city park after hours may be towed under SMC Title 7A. Report overnight problem vehicles via My Sammamish or dispatch at (206) 296-3311.
