Acworth, GA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

A governs business vehicles on residentially zoned property. Vehicles under 8,000 pounds axle weight are allowed to park in the side or rear yard of the residentially zoned property without a time restriction. Vehicles at or above that 8,000-pound axle-weight threshold may park on residential property only during daylight hours, and are barred overnight and on Saturdays and Sundays entirely. The ordinance defines daylight hours precisely as 30 minutes after dawn to 30 minutes before sunset, so the window shifts with the season rather than sitting on a fixed clock.

The same section separately bars vehicle repair on any public street, with a narrow exception for emergency repairs completed within 24 hours. 7's surface standard, which requires any vehicle parked on a residential lot to be on a surface hardened to handle up to 8,000 pounds gross axle weight, built to specified minimums for concrete, asphalt, brick, or tar-treated stone. Together the two sections mean a homeowner who parks a personal pickup or work van in the driveway on a normal paved surface is unaffected, but a business owner who wants to keep a heavy delivery truck or tractor at a residence has to move it off the property every night and every weekend.
