Full Breakdown
Section 191-24 of the Bristol Township Code, in Chapter 191 (Vehicles and Traffic), Article IV, holds the Township's commercial vehicle parking limits. Subsection C reads that no person shall park a commercial vehicle, truck, and/or trailer having a gross weight in excess of 7,000 pounds upon any properties, whether public or private, located in the residential districts of the Township. The ban is not limited to streets: it reaches driveways and lots, public or private, inside residential districts. The trigger is gross weight over 7,000 pounds, so a light pickup used for work does not fall under it while a loaded box truck or tractor-trailer does.
Subsection D lists the exceptions. The ban does not apply to buses and vehicles transporting passengers for pay or hire, vehicles of the Police Department or of any fire company, vehicles of a public utility company engaged in the performance of public utility work, vehicles making local deliveries or rendering services to occupants of buildings, or any vehicle owned by or performing work for the United States of America, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania or any political subdivision.
Two neighboring rules work alongside it. Subsection B bars parking a vehicle over 7,000 pounds gross weight, or a recreational vehicle, on the streets listed in Schedule XXIII (§ 191-87). For this purpose a recreational vehicle includes mobile homes, truck-mounted campers, travel trailers, folding tent campers, snowmobiles, minibikes, go-karts, boats, boat trailers, utility trailers and other motor vehicles adapted for vacation, residential or recreational use. Section 191-25, amended 5-20-2021 by Ord. No. 2021-04, bars parking a commercial vehicle or recreational vehicle at any time on the streets in Schedule XVI (§ 191-80). Section 191-19 separately bars operating or parking recreational boats, boat trailers and commercial truck-trailer traffic on the streets in Schedule XII (§ 191-76). The Township's Police Department and parking enforcement personnel enforce the article.
Violations & Fines
Section 191-30 applies to every provision of Article IV: on conviction the fine is not more than $1,000 and costs. Police officers and parking enforcement personnel must record each violation, including the section violated, the vehicle's license number and the location. The fine amount was set by Ord. No. 2022-06, adopted 6-16-2022.
