Broken Arrow, OK Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 4-2-4.I.3 sits in the Design and Use of Parking and Loading Areas division of the Broken Arrow Zoning Ordinance (Appendix A), enacted under Ord. No. 3877 (May 2025). It applies to residential and agricultural lots inside Broken Arrow city limits and works through a count limit, a set of size limits, and a cargo ban.

The count limit is tied to the household. The ordinance permits no more than one commercial vehicle "per family living on the premises." The allowance belongs to the family that lives on the lot, so a Broken Arrow resident cannot use a home lot to keep a group of work vehicles.

The size limits are separate tests, and the permitted vehicle has to pass each of them. It cannot exceed one-and-one-half tons rated capacity (1.5 tons). It cannot have more than two axles. It cannot exceed 24 feet in length. A truck that is under 24 feet but rides on more than two axles fails, and so does a two-axle truck that is longer than 24 feet. The capacity test looks at the vehicle's rated capacity, not at what it happens to be carrying that day.

The ordinance carves out "immediate loading or unloading." A larger commercial vehicle may be on the lot while it is actively being loaded or unloaded. The word "immediate" limits the exception to the loading activity itself and does not cover leaving the vehicle parked there afterward.

The cargo ban is absolute. The text says "in no case" shall a commercial vehicle used for hauling explosives, gasoline, hazardous materials, or liquefied petroleum products be permitted. Size does not matter for these vehicles: a hauler in any of those categories is barred from Broken Arrow residential and agricultural lots even if it would pass the capacity, axle, and length tests.
