Solano County has no general on-street ban targeting commercial trucks in residential areas; that area is governed by California Vehicle Code Section 22507.5. The County's zoning code instead limits commercial and 'large' vehicles tied to home-based businesses, capping heavy vehicles connected to cottage industries and home occupations.
For on-street commercial vehicle parking, California law controls: Vehicle Code Section 22507.5 lets local authorities, by ordinance and with posted signs or markings, restrict parking of commercial vehicles rated 10,000 pounds GVWR or more in residential districts, but exempts vehicles making pickups or deliveries to buildings on the affected street. Solano County has not adopted a standalone unincorporated-area version of that on-street restriction, so absent posted signs, state default rules and the 72-hour limit (Section 6.5-36) apply. Where the County does regulate commercial vehicles is in connection with home-based business activity on residential and rural parcels. Under the cottage-industry standards in Chapter 28, a maximum of three 'large vehicles' (defined by gross vehicle weight rating, generally 14,001 to 26,000 pounds) plus one trailer per large vehicle may be kept on the property, and such large vehicles may only be stored in an enclosed building; vehicles over 26,000 pounds GVWR may not be stored on a cottage-industry property at all. For lighter home occupations, no more than one vehicle or truck of one-ton capacity plus one trailer is permitted, and heavy commercial vehicles may not be used for deliveries to or from the premises.
On-street commercial-vehicle violations are enforced under the California Vehicle Code. Storing commercial or 'large' vehicles on a residential parcel beyond the cottage-industry or home-occupation limits in Chapter 28 is a zoning violation subject to County code enforcement and abatement under the Zoning Ordinance.
