Vacaville, CA Parking Rules: Commercial Vehicle Restrictions (2026)

Under VMC §10.20.020(N), parking a commercial vehicle of 10,000-lb GVWR or higher on a Vacaville street within a 600-foot radius of any occupied dwelling is prohibited at all times unless the operator has first obtained a special temporary parking permit from the Vacaville Police Department. The prohibition has a narrow exception: it does not apply to commercial vehicles actively making pickups or deliveries of goods to or from a building on the restricted street, or to vehicles delivering materials to be used in bona fide repair, alteration, remodeling, or construction at a site for which a building permit has previously been issued. The exception is activity-based, not parking-storage-based — once delivery activity ends, the truck must leave. VMC Chapter 10.32 (Trucks and Truck Routes Within the City) designates official truck routes through the City; commercial vehicles over 10,000 lbs GVWR must use those designated routes for through traffic and may only deviate for local pickup/delivery. Commercial vehicles in zoning-related contexts (long-term parking for a home occupation, etc.) are further restricted by VMC Title 14.
