Layton, UT Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

200 governs parking of commercial vehicles, such as utility, service, or delivery vehicles, at homes zoned residential. Subsection 1 requires these vehicles to be located within the rear or side yard, allowing front-yard parking only where natural topography or property boundaries make rear or side placement physically impossible. 030 must be accessed from an approved driveway leading to a garage or carport, placed on a hard surface, and located at least 10 feet from the public right-of-way, with only one such vehicle allowed in the front-yard setback area; semi-tractors and semi-trailers are barred from residential lots outright.

Corner lots must meet the same standards on both frontages and keep the vehicle out of the corner sight-visibility triangle. Subsection 2(c) prohibits parking or storing any commercial vehicle within the street right-of-way, and subsection (d) caps residential lots at one commercial vehicle, which must be owned or apportioned by an occupant who actually resides there. Subsection (e) vests enforcement jointly in the Layton City Police Department and the Community and Economic Development Department, giving the City two enforcement paths, code compliance and traffic policing, for the same violation.
