Louisville Metro LDC restricts commercial and heavy trucks in residential zones. Heavy vehicles (multi-rear-axle trucks, large trailers) face significant parking restrictions on residential lots. Commercial vehicles used for business may park on residential property subject to size and location restrictions.
Under the Louisville Metro LDC, Heavy Trucks β defined as motorized road vehicles with more than one rear axle or utility trailers longer than 16 feet (not including the tongue) β are heavily restricted in residential zoning districts and traditional neighborhood form districts. Up to two medium trucks (lighter commercial vehicles) per dwelling unit are allowed on lots 20,000+ sq ft, but not in the front of the main building or along street-facing sides. Semi-trucks and large commercial vehicles face the most restrictive rules and are generally prohibited in residential areas. On-street parking of commercial vehicles is subject to LMCO Chapter 72 time and location restrictions. PARC and Code Enforcement enforce violations.
LDC violations for oversized commercial vehicle parking: code enforcement citations. Street parking violations: PARC citations under LMCO Ch. 72. Fines vary.
