Louisville Metro's Land Development Code restricts parking of RVs, trailers, and boats in residential districts. RV-trailers or boats over 25 feet are classified as 'Heavy Trucks' and subject to stricter limits. Up to two medium-sized recreational vehicles are permitted on lots 20,000+ sq ft, but not in front yards or street-facing sides.
Under the Louisville Metro LDC, residential parking of RVs, trailers, and boats is regulated by vehicle classification. Any motorized vehicle with more than one rear axle or any utility trailer longer than 16 feet (excluding the tongue) is classified as a 'Heavy Truck.' Any RV-trailer or boat longer than 25 feet is also classified as a Heavy Truck. Heavy Trucks face significant restrictions in residential districts. Medium vehicles (RVs/boats/trailers under the Heavy Truck thresholds) are allowed β up to two per dwelling unit β on lots 20,000 sq ft or larger, but cannot be parked in front of the main building or along street-facing sides. A trailer and the boat on top count as one vehicle unless separated. All recreational vehicles must comply with Chapter 72 street parking rules when parked on public streets.
Violations of LDC parking standards: code enforcement citation. Street parking violations under LMCO Ch. 72: PARC citations. Fines vary by violation.
