Monroe County, FL Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Monroe County Code § 17-6 sets out a table, by Federal Highway Administration weight class, of what can and cannot park or sit in any residential land use district in the unincorporated Keys, meaning any zoning district where residential use is allowed. 01(4) cannot be parked or stored on private property in any residential district except the Industrial (I) district, and cannot be parked or stored in the road right-of-way, inside or outside the paved road bed, anywhere in the county. Lighter Class 2B through Class 4 trucks fitted with a cabinet box, platform, rack or other cargo-carrying equipment fall under a separate line of the same table: those are allowed on private property only if screened completely from view of the street and any other residential structure, and only if they meet the setbacks of the land use district where they sit, per part II of the Code.

Subsection (b) adds that any vehicle parked under this section must respect the applicable setback, cannot be used as a place of habitation, and can be parked only on the same or a contiguous lot as, and after, the principal structure has been built. Vehicles or equipment carrying a business logo or identifiers must also be parked consistent with the land use district's requirements.
