Nashville's Metro Code restricts commercial vehicle parking in residential zones. Commercial permit parking programs exist for business districts. Oversized commercial trucks may not park overnight on residential streets.
Metro Code Chapter 12.40 and Chapter 12.42 govern commercial vehicle parking. In residential areas, large commercial vehicles (semi-trucks, tractor-trailers) may not park on residential streets. Ordinance BL2017-941 established a Commercial Permit Parking Program allowing businesses to obtain permits for commercial vehicles in designated commercial zones. Permit fees are set annually by the Department of Public Works. Violations: $50 per citation. The same 48-hour abandonment tow rule applies to commercial vehicles.
