Vehicles over 10,000 lbs GVWR are prohibited from overnight parking on residential streets. One personal-use commercial truck under 10,000 lbs may be stored on a residential lot.
Oro Valley Zoning Code regulates the parking and storage of commercial vehicles in residential zoning districts. Commercial vehicles are defined as vehicles exceeding 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or those with prominent commercial markings, specialized body modifications (flatbeds, crane attachments, dump bodies), or mounted commercial equipment. One commercially marked pickup truck or van under 10,000 pounds GVWR used for personal transportation may be parked on a residential lot. Larger commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, and vehicles with hazardous materials placards are prohibited from residential storage. Overnight street parking of commercial vehicles in residential neighborhoods is prohibited. Commercial vehicles making deliveries or performing contracted work at a residence may park temporarily during active service hours. Semi-trucks, tractor-trailers, and vehicles with detached trailers are prohibited from residential streets at all times. HOA CC&Rs in many Oro Valley communities impose stricter restrictions, prohibiting any commercially marked vehicle from being visible from the street.
Overnight parking of oversized commercial vehicle in residential zone: citation with notice to remove. Repeat violations may result in towing at owner expense. HOA violations enforced separately.
