060, added by Ordinance 1748 in 1983 and extended to private property by Ordinance 5663 in 2016, splits the ban into two parts. Subsection A bars stopping, parking or leaving standing a heavy commercial vehicle, one meeting the California Vehicle Code's definition and rated at a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight of 10,000 pounds or more, on any street inside an area the city classifies as residential. Subsection B extends the identical weight threshold and identical narrow exceptions to private property in the R1, RS, R2, R3 and RMU zoning classifications, closing the loophole of simply pulling the truck into a driveway.

Both subsections carve out the same two exceptions: the vehicle may stop to make a pickup or delivery of persons, goods, wares or merchandise at a building on that street or property, or it may deliver materials for a bona fide repair, alteration, remodel or construction job for which a building permit was already issued. There is no exception for simply storing, resting or overnight-parking a work truck, dump truck, box truck or bus at a residence between jobs. 060 as the city's public works director or designee, who along with police officers assigned to traffic enforcement administers the parking code citywide.
