Linden, NJ Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

5, added October 17, 2023 by Ordinance No. 67-66, states plainly that the parking of vehicles on residential lawns, and the keeping of inoperable or unregistered vehicles upon the streets, vacant lots and residential lawns located within the City, is prohibited. The rule reaches three related situations at once: any vehicle parked on grass rather than a driveway or paved surface, any vehicle that does not run, and any vehicle without current registration, wherever it sits, whether on the street, an empty lot or a lawn.

5(b) assigns enforcement to the Linden Police Department, and also as contemplated and permitted by law, meaning other City officials with code-enforcement authority can act as well. 5(c) fixes the penalty independently of Chapter 7's general $50 traffic fine: a violator is subject to a fine of not less than $50 and not more than $100, or imprisonment for up to fifteen days, or both, at the discretion of the Municipal Court. 4), all adopted together by the same 2023 ordinance to tighten vehicle-related nuisance rules citywide.
