" The rule is short but absolute: it does not create an exception for gravel patches, grass, dirt or mulched areas beyond the paved or graveled surface, and it does not distinguish between a resident's own vehicles and a guest's. A vehicle parked on the lawn, on an unimproved shoulder, or on any part of the front yard that is not itself a paved or gravel driveway surface sits outside the area the ordinance allows, regardless of how briefly it is parked there. The provision sits inside the same subsection of § 10-41 that separately limits a home-occupation commercial vehicle to no more than one and one-half tons and keeps it out of any required front or side yard, showing the county treats the driveway footprint as the governing standard for what a front yard can carry.

Because the rule turns on the physical surface rather than a permit, a homeowner does not need to apply to Planning and GIS Services before parking within an existing driveway; the department's role is enforcement when a vehicle sits outside that footprint. Expanding the parking area itself, by adding gravel or pavement beyond the existing driveway, is a site improvement that can trigger its own zoning review under the applicable district's lot coverage and yard standards, separate from this parking-location rule.
