North Miami's Chapter 29 (Land Development Regulations) strictly prohibits parking on the front lawn of any residential property. Vehicles must be parked on paved driveways or in garages. Property owners are liable for damage to sodding caused by parking, and vehicles may not obstruct sidewalks. Commercial vehicles including trucks, tow trucks, and buses are banned from residential areas.
Under Chapter 29 of the North Miami Code, it is a violation to park any vehicle on the front lawn of a residential property. All vehicle parking must occur on approved paved surfaces such as driveways and garages. Property owners are held liable for damage to public sodding (swale grass) caused by vehicle parking. Vehicles may not block or obstruct sidewalks at any time. Inoperable, wrecked, or abandoned vehicles (including cars, boats, and trailers) are prohibited from being stored on any property under Chapter 10. Recreational vehicles, boats, and trailers require an Administrative Variance for residential storage. Driveway modifications or expansions require a building permit and must comply with lot coverage and impervious surface requirements in Chapter 29. All driveways must maintain adequate drainage and not direct stormwater onto neighboring properties.
Violations receive a Notice of Violation from Code Compliance with a specified compliance deadline. Repeated violations may result in escalating fines and liens. Contact Code Compliance at (305) 895-9825 to report driveway or parking violations.
