RMC 6-2-4 requires vehicles on improved driveways only, with 3 ft garage setback and 5 ft side setback. Screening required along side property lines. No front-yard repairs.
Under RMC 6-2-4, residential driveway parking in Reedley requires that vehicles be placed on an improved (paved) driveway surface. Front-yard driveway parking is permitted no closer than 3 feet from any garage door opening and no closer than 5 feet from the side yard property line. Screening by shrubs or trees must be provided along the side yard property line sufficient to mitigate the visual impact of the vehicle on adjacent property. Parking within a 10-foot area adjacent to and behind the curb (in curbed areas) or behind the edge of pavement (in areas without curbs) is prohibited -- this effectively prevents blocking the sidewalk or public right-of-way. Vehicles on residential property cannot remain for more than 72 continuous hours on any yard or parking strip. Vehicle repair in any front yard in a residential district is prohibited at all times, and repair work in other areas between 10 PM and 7 AM is prohibited if it creates a nuisance. These rules apply to all vehicles regardless of registration status.
Code enforcement citations for driveway violations under RMC 6-2-4. Fines escalate from $100 for first offenses. Vehicles parked on unimproved surfaces (dirt, grass) may be cited as property nuisances under RMC 4-2-3.
