Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I install an EV charging station in unincorporated Chelan County?
It has to sit within one thousand feet of an urban or rural collector road, as defined in Section 15.30.220 of the county road code, or of a state highway, under Chelan County Code Section 11.88.110. The stall also needs to match the parking-stall dimensions in Table 11.90-4 and carry the required charging-station signage and green pavement marking.
Does an EV charging stall count toward my required parking?
Yes. Section 11.88.110(2) lets a parking space designated for electric vehicle charging be included when calculating the off-street parking a project must provide under Section 11.90.060, so a developer is not required to add separate spaces on top of the charging stalls.
What signage does an EV charging station need?
Each stall needs vertical signage identifying it as an electric vehicle charging station for that use only, built to the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices standards the state Department of Transportation adopted under RCW 47.36.030, plus green pavement markings on the stall surface. Extra signage directing drivers to the station is also permitted.
