Largo encourages EV adoption through an EV-Readiness program tied to Comprehensive Development Code Section 9.5, allowing EV-installed spaces to count toward minimum parking and offering an expedited charger permit review.
The City of Largo has adopted EV-readiness standards integrated with its Comprehensive Development Code. Under CDC Section 9.5 (Vehicular Parking), required EV parking spaces count toward the total minimum parking required for a development, encouraging deployment without inflating parking counts. Largo recognizes three readiness tiers: EV-Capable (panel capacity and conduit), EVSE-Ready (panel, conduit, and a Level 2 outlet), and EVSE-Installed (a working Level 2 charger or higher). At least one EVSE-Installed space must be located adjacent to an ADA designated parking space, and that ADA space is designated as an EV reserved space. Largo also offers an expedited two-day permit review for residential and commercial EV charger installation.
Installations without permits or that ignore ADA pairing requirements trigger stop-work orders and re-inspection fees through Largo Building Services and Community Standards.
